PDF-FILES

NAMING
When naming PDF files, you may use "numerals" and "letters" ONLY. The "– "or"_ " symbols can be used, if desired, to split a name

CREATING THE FILE
When creating the final PDF file you should preferably use in Acrobat Distiller the "Conversion Settings" = the "Job Options" of Medibel+ (i.e. the standard settings for Belgium). However, we also accept the international PDF/x standard, provided it has no embedded colour profiles and/or spot colours. In the absence of the Medibel+ Job Options settings, youd do best to utilize Adobes default setting that refers to "Press" or "Print Work" and which, as a rule, will produce a visually correct, HIGH resolution PDF (2400 dpi).

COLOURS
Only CMYK-colours may be used. Pantone and other colours must first, in your editor, be converted to CMYK so that the PDF file, later on, can be separated, correctly, for 4-colour process printing.

FONTS
All fonts used must be embedded in the PDF-file.

IMAGES
All photos and other artwork should be scanned in and/or prepared at a minimum resolution of 300 ppi (Pixels Per Inch).

TEAR-OUT CARD

The reply card is glued inside the magazine. To ensure that everything remains legible, text and important image elements on the front of the card should be placed 1 cm from the left-hand edge and at the back 1 cm from the right-hand edge

PROMOTIONAL INSERTS

A promotional insert should not be wider than 210 mm and not higher than 297 mm. During in-line finishing, sewn-in or tipped-in (glued) promotional inserts have, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, 5 mm trimmed off at the top of the magazine. Minimum paper weight of the promotional insert: 80g/m2.
Note: in magazines with a stapled spine bound-in (stapled) inserts or bound-in reply cards of 1 page only should always include a return flap with the same height as the document and with a width of 10 cm.
A text (or logo) can be printed on this return flap if so desired.

BOUND-IN INSERTS
A promotional insert can be bound into the middle of the magazine (stapled-through-the-centrefold).

AS A LOOSE INSERT
A promotional insert can be sent as a loose insert inside the usual magazine wrapper. This insert shouldn't be bigger than the format of the magazine and should weigh no more than 120g.

TIPPED-IN INSERT
A promotional insert or a reply card can be tipped to a page in the magazine. In that event, a link to a page of advertising is obligatory and, for technical reasons, no regular spot is bookable in the magazine.

GADGET
Quotation on request: subject to technical feasibility.

COLOR PROOFS

The enclosed proof is only used in the digital production process to check whether the content of the supplied digital material corresponds to the intentions of the creator/designer of the advertising insert. The colourfastness of the final representation in the magazine is entirely determined by the CMYK values, enclosed in the digital information of the files. These colour values will no longer be changed and the advertising insertion will therefore have the colours resulting from the CMYK values enclosed by the creator/designer.

All non-CMYK compatible colour formats (RGB or spot colours) are converted by our graphics software to CMYK colour values, which may result in colours that do not fully reflect the intention of the author/designer of the advertisement. It is therefore essential that all colour-sensitive ads and insertions are supplied in CMYK format.

MATERIAL NOT READY TO BE PRINTED

Our graphical department is able to create digital print-ready material, based upon texts and photographs. Our own photographers can make photographs of delivered material or products.
The advertising rates do not include any lay-out costs. These have to be discussed in advance, taking into account the desired result.

AGREED TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION AND QUALITY STANDARDS

For everything not covered by an explicit provision, the reader is referred to the "FEBELGRA Manual - Business Practices and General Conditions specific to the Printing Industry".

PLACEMENT
All advertisements are published, ordinarily, on a left-hand page.
Every special placement should be clearly stated on the order form, for which a supplement of 25% will be charged per placement.

COLOUR DIFFERENCES
Our magazines are produced per section of 16 to 32 pages. In this way several adverts come within the same ink zone. After that, the pages concerned are printed, automatically, with the same average ink pressure and density. Consequently, minor deviations in colour compared to previous ads and/or accompanying colour proofs are sometimes unavoidable.

CANCELLATION
Cancellation of any order must be effected as prescribed under our standard conditions of sale. Moreover, cancellations will not be accepted less than 6 weeks before the date of issue.
Orders for cover pages (Cover 1, 2, 3 and 4) are non-cancellable.

DEADLINES FOR SUBMITTING THE CRC

The deadlines for delivering the material can be consulted on the online rate cards and will be mailed to you personally after your reservation.
